A Need for Bus Drivers

September 18, 2017

If you consider yourself a safe driver, we'd love to have you on our volunteer team! Residents need help getting to and from appointments and outings and the bulk of that responsibility depends on generous volunteers who donate their time. But there is still a constant need for bus and minivan drivers, especially in the fall and winter.

If you're worried about the "bus" part, let me reassure you. It takes just a trip to the DMV office uptown and a simple driving test with the nursing home's minivan. And driving the bus is really not as intimidating as you might imagine. It is a fifteen-passenger bus and takes just a bit of practice to grow comfortable with. In all of this, we support you. If you'd feel more comfortable practicing with it alone, we will gladly set up a time for you to do this.

But if you just are not comfortable with driving the bus, we would still be grateful to have you drive the minivan for those who have appointments!

If you'd like more information, feel free to contact Patsy Kaeb, Volunteer Coordinator at (309) 923-2071, ext. 114.
