Musical Activities

October 30, 2017

Music is a happy place for most of our residents. Whether it is gospel music, bluegrass, classical, oldies, or vocal harmony, residents enjoy all different styles. This explains why the special music activities are always well-attended.

Winston Dunbar comes to entertain with all types of songs--hymns, oldies, classical--on the piano. He enjoys chatting with the residents between songs, introducing songs, giving a little history of the songs, and sometimes even having the residents guess the song he played. Residents have come to know his repertoire well enough that they can request a few of the songs he keeps in his big white binder.

Richard Selquist comes regularly to entertain with his guitar and voice. He plays a mixture of gospel and bluegrass and keeps everyone's toes tapping in time.

Mary Sherwood also comes in to perform on the piano. She doesn't bring a sheet of piano music, but she amazes us with her skills all the same. As her fingers bounce across the keys, your heart can't help by feel lighter.

These are just three of the many entertainers who come in to provide music and spread joy to the residents.
