You knew you needed persuading, right? Well, in case you're still on the fence about coming to our annual benefit on August 24-25, here are a few things to consider:
The Music. This year, our Friday night entertainment is Doug Martin from Eureka. You will absolutely love his clear, pure voice and acoustic guitar music. Saturday morning, we will feature a group of ladies, cousins from Bloomington, who will lead us in a time of acapella worship.
The Food. Do you like ice cream? How about grilled chicken? Lemon shake-ups? Homemade pies? I thought so. You'll probably like the many other food items offered, including baked goodies and homegrown produce.
The Auction. I don't know about you, but something about a live auction thrills me, even if I'm not bidding. Maybe it's the pulse of excitement among the crowd, the "hunting" mechanism that makes me wonder who will win which item and for how much.
The Fellowship. Homecoming Day is a great way to say hello to the community. Many people see friends that they haven't seen in over a year at the benefit. This is one place where everyone is a friend. Our common goal-supporting the Home-draws us together.
Hand-crocheted and knitted goodies. Volunteers knit and crochet blankets, scarves, hates, dishrags, and more. It's fun to walk the table and feel the soft yarns and pick from your favorite colors.
There you are. If you needed persuading, I've given you five of my favorite things about the benefit. I'm sure others could add to my list.
We hope to see you this August!
