Virtual Reality

January 10, 2019

You're taking a tour on a tiny island in Maine. You're walking through a tropical rain forest. You're taking a water slide tour of the world.

These were my experiences when I pulled out the virtual reality set we got on loan from

Others experienced underwater adventures, meeting pandas, and visiting lions. And there are more adventures still that no one has experienced yet. The British Museum. The White House.

The world is virtually at our fingertips.

We jumped at the chance to receive a rental VR set from Virtual Reality Rental when we were offered it for the price of shipping. We were impressed with the outstanding sound and video quality. It feels like a 3D theater from the comfort of your own room. As I was helping to get it set up for our residents, I felt as though hours had elapsed instead of mere minutes.

Residents have enjoyed having the chance to experience these adventures this week.

Sometimes technology can be wonderful for our seniors. The bedridden lady gets to walk through her very own adventures. The anxious man can relax among a calming forest atmosphere.

And that's the exciting gift that modern technology provides to an elderly generation.
