I don't know what your home life was like, but my parents were godly examples for me to look up to. With such a happy childhood, I should often think about how love has impacted me.
But I don't. It's easier to take for granted this incredible blessing.
Valentine's Day is a day for me to remember again the power of love (and, yes, this includes paternal love).
Valentine's Day is often a painful holiday for those with broken love lives.
But that's only because of the narrowness with which we see love. If we emphasized other kinds of love--for example, the love of friendship--we wouldn't have nearly the trouble with these painful feelings.
Instead of obsessing about your broken relationships this Valentine's Day, shift your focus to those that you love and resolve to make their day special. Because love truly "seeketh not her own" (1 Corinthians 13:5, KJV).
