We hear a variety of responses when we talk about the staff blitz, but the one we hear most often is, "What on earth is a blitz?!"
When I first began to work here, the word caught me off-guard too. Being the avid history nerd that I am, my mind immediately went to Germany's Blitzkrieg (literally "lightning war"). During World War 2, this term described Germany's fast and aggressive offensive force.
It's a little less frightening when it refers to our nursing home. It is quick and aggressive, but it's not war. It's a speed-training on all the things we are required to know.
What it looks like practically, though, is a morning of sitting and listening, good food, a short survey, and a bit of discussion.
But quick like a bolt of blitz.
