I just learned that February is National Library Lover's Month, and I thought I would take the opportunity to applaud our local library for the service that they provide our residents.
Twice a month, they send a staff member to our facility to deliver new books and pick up finished ones. This free service is available to every resident.
One of our volunteers, a former librarian, collects and delivers the books to each resident who wants to participate.
The Illinois State Library Talking Book and Braille Service also does a great job at keeping us stocked in audio book cartridges and players so that those residents with vision or mobility disabilities can still enjoy the beauties of literature.
It took a little time to organize and stream-line these systems, but it is worth it every day when I see residents in their rooms enjoying both audio and physical books.
I hope you love your local library as much as we love ours!
